Hello Everyone!

My name is Darwin and I am the library lizard! I am a bearded dragon who loves watching the students all day. This is my second year in Washington School and I am so happy to be back! So far, I haven’t been a distraction during library browse or library skills. Although I love when the students come visit me before and after school. My favorite food is any kind of green leaf and dried bugs. I love climbing high on my log so I can get a better view of what the students are doing. I am extremely sad when they are not around! Thanks for letting me be in the library!

Darwin

Darwin has become quite the celebrity within the last year. I had Darwin while I did my student teaching in 5th grade. I was surprised at how much the students began to take responsibility and ownership of his care. Even if students didn’t have pets at home, Darwin was theirs. After I was done student teaching, Darwin came with me to a 6 week long subbing position. Before long, everybody knew and loved Darwin. So, natrually I had to bring him to the library! I have been extremely proud of the kids. We have had talks with each grade of how important it is to not let Darwin be a distraction. The kids know when it is okay to see Darwin and when they should be doing their jobs. I do not let any of the kids touch or hold Darwin. He is a little friend to observe and love. If you have any questions about Darwin please let me know!
